Erste Bank Hungary Plc. joins EFISZ

The Electronic Payment Providers Association (EFISZ) further grows as Erste Bank Hungary Plc. joins its members.

In 1997, Erste Bank Hungary became a member of the Austrian Erste Group, which was founded in 1819 as the first Austrian savings bank. In the past 10 years, Erste Group has developed into one of the largest financial services providers in Central-Eastern Europe.

Erste Bank Hungary is one of the major operators in the Hungarian banking market in terms of its number of clients and branches. The bank has over 110 branches and a network of 400+ ATMs at the service of its clients.

‘Erste Bank always upgrades its digital applications to meet the changing needs of its customers. Erste was the first Hungarian bank to launch its own mobile wallet, and half of its retail clients regularly use the digital platforms of the financial institution (NetBank, MobilBank). Due to the regular updates, the MobilePay application, an Android app now with the full functionality of a digital wallet (with NFC), is used more and more widely: Over the past 6 months, the number of transactions and the number of clients using the app have both increased by 33%,’ said László Bek-Balla, Head of Digital & Contact Center at Erste Bank Hungary Plc.
