VERES Mihály has been CEO of the National Mobile Payment Plc. from 16 August 2013. During his leadership, on 1 July 2014 the National Mobile Payment system was launched which helps the everyday life of more than 6 million users offering full national coverage. The continuously developing platform enables the introduction of digital services for 174 service providers and resellers. Within National Mobile Payment Plc., VERES Mihály has taken active, leading role in several innovations widely available today. Under his leadership, NM Plc. has become one of Hungary’s major innovation workshops driving digitalization.
Being engaged in research and development in the field of potential uses of mobile communication from early 2000s, in 2004 he already led R&D projects targeting electronic and mobile payment means. He made a significant contribution to the launch of the toll system requiring payment in proportion to actual use (HU-GO) and to the creation of several Smart City solutions.
In April 2017 it was the initiative of VERES Mihály calling the Electronic Payment Service Providers Association (EFISZ) to being with 9 members. The Association aims, inter alia, to support the development of the Hungarian cash-saving electronic payment ecosystem which points towards sustainability, and the development of new service and business models, to foster and improve the domestic and international professional cooperation in the electronic payment value chain, to raise the financial awareness of consumers and to support the creation of innovative cashless payment solutions.
